THE BABY SOCIETY
Live action DVD created by a pediatric speech pathologist contains vocabulary words and  early language concepts, paired with original music complementing each vignette. Object permanence, recognition, cause and effect and naming are enhanced in delightful ways. ADULT JUROR COMMENTS: Well done. Each scene provides the opportunity for language stimulation, introducing common objects as well as language phrases and concepts that are appropriate for babies and toddlers. It is comparable to a board book of objects, as toys and animals come to life in a video format. Scenes are enchanting and whimsical. We highly recommend that parents interact with their child when watching this by pointing out examples found in their home that are similar to what is shown on-screen. Without adult interaction, it lacks sticking power with the babies and toddlers. The film refers to their website, http://www.thebabysociety.com/, which is a valuable resource to use. It stresses which words and concepts should be stressed. They also stress developmental milestones to be aware of and when it is appropriate to visit a specialist when speech is delayed or disordered. This is a good tool to help you develop your child's language skills when coupled with active learning. e.g., watch the DVD, then take a walk in the park, the zoo, or someplace where you can point out the things shown in the DVD.

JUNO'S RHYTHM ADVENTURE
Juno and the gang discover rhythm in everyday things. This interactive DVD is designed to teach music appreciation and creativity through puppetry, animation, classical music, original songs and world rhythms. ADULT JUROR COMMENTS: This program portrays a world of possibilities with good humor and imagination. Plato said, "The whole of man's life stands in need of a right rhythm." The program starts out with this quote and carries through by showing children how we are all different and have our own way of doing things. From running to walking, to dressing funny with pants on top of one's head, a world of discovery awaits the young child to help her find her own rhythms.  It is available in English, Spanish and French which helps your preschooler learn foreign language skills.

SPANISH FOR BEGINNERS
SPANISH FOR BEGINNERS 4: LOS ANIMALES (ANIMALS)
A trip to the farm, with some unexpected guests. Spanish immersion, introducing children to the Spanish language through the use of skits, puppets, songs and play. ADULT JUROR COMMENTS: Very enjoyable and engaging to watch. Makes learning a language fun and easy. The playful associations of words, repetition in different scenarios, from animation to live action, is natural and moves along with style and ease. Music, play and fun puppets add to the mix in an imaginative way that will capture children and adults alike. The flow of the language coupled with the visuals is very impressive and engaging - without any English translation at all.
