The Break-Up

Reviewed by Elliot V. Kotek

Director: Peyton Reed
Starring: Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn
Studio: Universal
Production Budget: N/A

Water Cooler Buzz: As with last year's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, fans will be wanting to see where the offscreen chemistry began between this onscreen couple. With Aniston's All-American appeal and Vaughn's commercially appreciated improv talents, billboards, bus banners and box office should all expect big things.

Description: With the film's premise promising "mental warfare," filmgoers will be hoping the film's makers paid no attention to Ben Stiller's Duplex or even Stiller and Aniston's money-making Along Came Polly in this tale of a broken-up twosome trying to hold onto their Chicago apartment. Look for another classy comedic cameo from the very in-form Jason Bateman and a return to form from Chasing Amy's Joey Lauren Adams. Aptly opening against Prairie Home, one of the film's critical scenes takes place at a concert performance by an alternative country band.
